Bringing Hearts Together: A Recap of Our 3rd Annual Speed Dating Event

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of hosting our 3rd Annual Speed Dating Event, and it was truly a day to remember! With over 125 singles coming together for an afternoon filled with laughter, conversation, and meaningful connections, the event was a wonderful reminder of the magic that happens when people with shared values and interests gather with a common goal: to find love.

A Wide Range of Ages, Cultures, and Experiences

One of the most beautiful aspects of our event was the diversity in age and background. Our attendees spanned from Gen Z to Gen X, with participants ranging from 23 to 52. We were especially proud that over 20% of attendees were in their 40s, many of whom were seeking second-time Shaadi, looking for love after divorce, or ready to embark on new companionship journeys as single parents.

In today’s dating world, it’s easy to feel like you’re navigating it alone, especially when re-entering the dating scene after significant life changes. Seeing this strong turnout from mature singles truly reinforces our belief that love knows no age limit, and finding meaningful companionship is possible at any stage in life.

A Tapestry of Faiths and Lifestyles

Beyond age, our event was a mosaic of religious and cultural backgrounds. Around 10% of attendees identified as Christian, Muslim, or Sikh, reflecting the beautiful diversity of the South Asian diaspora. We’ve always believed that love isn’t confined to any one path, and this event proved just that—people from all walks of life came together with open hearts, ready to meet someone special.

We also ensured that shared lifestyles, particularly dietary preferences, were well-considered, which played a crucial role in creating authentic connections. Over 40% of attendees indicated specific dietary preferences, from vegetarian to gluten-free. As anyone from the diaspora knows, food is central to our cultures, and shared meals often lay the foundation for deep relationships.

A Perfect Gender Balance and Meaningful Matches

One of our primary goals when planning the event was to maintain a near-perfect gender balance, giving everyone equal opportunities to meet potential matches—and we’re happy to report that we succeeded! The energy in the room was electric, and meaningful conversations flowed easily. Over 35% of attendees left with more than one mutual match, with 28% signing up for a second hour of speed dating to maximize their chances of meeting someone special.

It was clear that many weren’t ready for the afternoon to end. On the day of the event, many attendees added a second cohort, eager to meet even more potential matches. It’s moments like these that remind us how important these events are for bringing the right people together.

Connections Continue Beyond the Event

While the event itself was a great success, the magic didn’t stop there. Our post-event surveys showed that 10% of attendees have already connected with their matches over FaceTime or in person since the event, with more connections happening every day. It’s exciting to think about the new relationships that are blossoming as a result of our time together!

The Desi Singles Gala: An Evening of Fun and Friendship

As the day wound down, the excitement carried over into the night at our Desi Singles Gala, where around 100 singles gathered for an evening of fun, entertainment, and meaningful conversations. The Gala was the perfect way to celebrate the connections made earlier in the day and allowed singles to continue mingling in a relaxed and vibrant atmosphere.

The laughter and conversations at the Gala showed that finding love isn’t just about those one-on-one moments but also about building a sense of community and camaraderie with others on the same journey.
